Greetings from Oregon: The Swept Wing Motel, Albany

(Greetings from Oregon is an occasional look at found postcards from around the state.)

Wow – neon overload (not there’s anything wrong with that – unless you’re trying to fall asleep after traveling all day).

From the back of the postcard:

The Swept Wing Motel, next to the Albany Airport at the intersection of I-5 and Hwy 20.

Albany’s newest and finest motel accommodations. All its beautifully furnished, air-conditioned with individual controlled heat. Large heated swimming pool plus steam baths, phones, TV—everything for your personal comfort. Excellent restaurant nearby.

A quick search also revealed it might’ve been a teen dancing club in the 60s called the Swept Wing Inn.

Sign is long gone.

  1. You’re referring to the T&R the sign. It is still standing without any neon, now advertising the Phoenix inn

    1. Thanks – driven by that so many, many times and never made the connection.
